Darius is a maker of both music and poetry. He's a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He's also a poet whose work has been published widely. He's released over a dozen albums and performed at historic music venues like the Troubadour and CBGB. He's opened shows for the likes of Don McLean, Lucinda Williams, and Dr. John. His songs and videos have aired on radio and TV. He’s been nominated for three San Diego Music Awards, been included on two San Diego Homegrown albums, and played sitar on a classic Warren Zevon song.

His poems have been published in literary magazines such as Measure and Agenda. His poetry collection To See the Sound was published in 2014.

Years ago the San Diego Union Tribune wrote, “Darius – songwriter or poet?” While it’s true that songs and poems have a lot of history in common, they're also very different artforms. Today, after years of study and publication, it's fair to say Darius is both a songwriter and a poet. As such, he’s somewhat unique as a songwriter, writing songs that might be called “song-poems.”
